@Paigey12386 Thank You!
I donated. Good deed for the day, check. Everyone remember to donate!
Thank You for sharing the plantingpeace website. I’m thrilled to be able to donate to this site, they’re doing so much to help.
JUST CUT OFF THE DAMN BUTTONS, jeeze this guy is trying to make an effort and everyone’s giving him crap about it. If it means that much to you, just cut off the damn buttons and everyone can be happy. Easy, SAFE, recycled baby blanket.
You can wash acrylic felt, but not woolen felt.
Ever seen a lovely wool beret after the storm?
Eeek buttons and felt? I think just a heavy weight cotton with some satin edging would be more of a lovey. Or just simply tie knots on the corners. Every baby sucks on their blankie. =)
To annebreal: People have been trying to ban buttons on baby clothes for decades. My neighbor’s son died from choking on a button from his little tux on their wedding day. And that’s really tragic. So dont say “Get over the buttons.”
would this count for overseas viewers?
I’m all for DIYing, but this time, if someone wants to donate a blanket, don’t be a cheapskate. Buy a SAFE, quality baby blanket for $5 and send it instead of something as unsafe as this guy’s blankey. A for effort, F for execution.
i donated!!! and i can’t wait to start making blankets!!
Aw Corinne, you’re amazing.
I wish I could go with you to Haiti and help out there personally myself. Your effort is well recognized and appreciated dear. I wish you the best on your trip
you’re such a nice person…
Ok, I’ll get over the buttons. I’ll sew a few on to every blanket I made for the relief effort. While I’m at it, I’ll toss lots of small household items in that children can choke on. How about a few bottles of rat poison for them to play with as well? Want me to send a box of that stuff to you so you can distribute it to the children in your family that you love? Really, folks…I was trying to be safe and positive. Thanks for wrecking my faith in the general goodness of humanity.
get over the buttons.. what’s the odds realluy? baby cloths have buttons? Every blanket (most blankets) don’t have buttons? Make people not want to give
YOU CAN WASH FELT
Yikes! Felt?
You can’t give babies felt.
It is not really woven fabric.
When they chew on it, and trust me, they will, it breaks down and they can choke on it.
AND BUTTONS?????
No. No. A thousand times, no.
And felt isn’t washable.
They are going to spit up and pee on this and then it will be yukky.
Threadbangers, you are the VERY BEST.
Pull this video.
Your intentions were wonderful, but safety is PRIMARY.
Love you…
cute blanket, great idea! but i do have to agree with the others about the buttons. they need to be taken off if you are giving the blanket to a baby.
omg i almost cried!! Corrnie you are amazing! I’d love to make something for the kids in Hati!! btw do you think the buttons need to be taken off?? as a mother i see them as a potentail coking hazard!
PLZ REMOVE ANY BUTTONS. babies could chock on a button.
This is great! On one of your early eps, one of you mentioned that you have a relative that made sleeping bags and put little necessities in them and passed them out to the homeless. Something like that would be great for the adults. Shows us how you make the sleeping bags
I would image the idea is simple, but I think they were made into some sort of a backpack, so that was really neat!
I donated to Planting Peace. Pls film when you go back to Haiti. Keep up the good work!
@golfstew thanks for posting that
the bankets are a terrific idea though ..i have been working on some my self..good luck on your blankets everyone!!
@isis416 if you care so much you would realize that we are trying to do our part from home, as not everyone can just jump on a plane and fly there. We do what we can and part of that is pointing out safety issues to make it a fun and safe & successful project for everyone…mainly for the baby that will get the blanket! Working together and taking constructive criticism is part of the whole process…the blankets are a great idea, just minus the buttons for safety!

done! I don’t have much either in the way of money but i gave what I could. What I do have is a room full of scrap fabric and boxes of yarn filling up a closet. When I’m not sewing at work, I’m sewing at home and when im not sewing, I’m knitting or crocheting blankies and whatever else. Id like to send these items ive made to haiti and to florida. Id love more info on where to send in florida.
