It just depends on the belief. The questions you’re asking about evolution are not trivial, but they do have answers. You are doing the equivalent of asking ‘How could there be IMAGINARY numbers?’ and then saying ‘Four out of ten people can’t do calculus! Hahah!’
More to the point, the religious explanation of life is nonexistent. We could live in almost any other kind of environment and your explanation would fit just as well. We haven’t learned shit about the natural world from the bible.
There is a lot of evidence for evolution. Modern biology does not function without the idea at all. It has already been successfully applied in genetic engineering, epidemiology, gene therapy, selective breeding, ecology (especially) and many other fields.
Scientists do not reject the idea. I challenge you to find a single biologist from a real university who repudiates its basic thesis.
It does not matter what uninformed people think about something: they are uninformed.
Excuse me. The 99.999% of religions which are false should pose a problem for you, too. The only argument I’ve ever heard from a Christian to explain those religious practices and experiences is ‘Satan.’
As if ALL OTHER religions, even the ones predating Christianity, are fully explained by a red man with a hayfork.
Humans evolved to believe certain falsehoods because it was adaptive. The cost of mistaking a shadow for a burglar is less than the cost of making the opposite mistake. A spiritual worldview was the best we could do without science, since we had to conceptualize biology and climate without understanding them.
Since beliefs too are subject to evolution, some self-perpetuating ideas are believed just because they are good at getting passed on, like the belief that sex with a virgin cures AIDS.
My self-image is irrelevant to the issue. I came to my conclusions about this issue by honestly seeking the truth.
I’m not the one making statements without any content, so don’t accuse me of glibness.
Defend the existence and the vile nature and rituals of your God, or shut up.
“The prison-stock of the forgotten continent?”
Mind your manners, insect.
We win by not having to project a sadist’s wet dream like the one you just described onto a ‘loving’ God.
Someone is in the ‘gaping maw’ of hypocrisy right now.
Almost all the growth in Christianity is among the poor and the desperate, which makes sense given its slave-morality.
Keep telling them birth control is evil, it’s working.
Thank you cockbrain for that fine example of rationalization from the prison population of the Forgotten Continent.
It’s common to progress and become more reasonable in all aspects of your life… except when it comes to explanations of life itself, death, and the universe – they can just keep moving further backward, and quite often they do as people’s faiths strengthen, hence why people progress but don’t become secular.
Buttlumper: I have to thank you for finally admitting defeat in saying “I don’t have a case.”
Thanks for the admission of defeat, but in good conscience I can’t receive your confession, only a priest can do that. Good luck, and God bless, bigot!
Victory… not victory, you are simply in denial my friend, if you want to claim victory then fine, but your only lying to yourself. This is not something I want to win I never had to fight this battle, this is something I want you to win the only way you can win is to relies the god concept is a delusion.
Buttlicker: To portray your imminent departure as anything other than a complete loss is as disingenuous as your claim of being anything other than an anti-Christian bigot. Atheists like you, like Stalin, like Mao, like Pol-pot prove that godlessness leads irrevocably to amorality and evil.
Anyway thanks for the victory, bigot.
I don’t claim that at all, even if the entire world believed in one single God, it would not mean it is real. You simply ignore everything I say, you ignore facts and evidence your ignorant, I don’t see the point in continuing if you want accept fact that the the modern scientific community has agreed is true.
ButtLicker, this growth of traditional religion and death of liberal religion puts a lie to the atheist’s claim that the inevitable result of “reason” and “progress” is a secular world. If this were so then religious people should be getting less religious; conservative churches should be shrinking; liberal churches should be growing. In fact the opposite is true. Would you like an aspirin with that dose of Reality? Or would you like to lie again and say you “answered my questions”?
The world is witnessing a huge explosion of religious conversion, and Christianity is growing faster than all others. Liberal churches are shrinking while conservative churches grow at an astounding rate. In 1960, Southern Baptist churches had 8.7 million members, now it’s 16.4. At the same time liberal Presbyterians went from 4.2 to 2.4 million. And the far-left Episcopalians dwindled from 3.4 to 2.3 million. Nietzsche’s proclamation “God is dead” is proven false. Nietzsche is dead.
LOL! Our Savior also said “I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword.” You, however, have brought little but a poor education and a spineless yellow streak of cowardice. If it was up to faux Christians like you Europe would be a Nazi regime and we’d be an English colony.
not for you, but for the bad name Christians are giving Christ. Our Savior preached of love, not of this wich you are doing.
ButtLicker, it’s clear you understand neither religion nor Darwin. It makes no evolutionary sense for minds to develop comforting beliefs that are evidently false. A freezing man finds no comfort in believing he is warm. A man facing a roaring lion isn’t put at ease by believing it’s a squirrel. And those embracing such delusions rarely produce offspring blessed with the grace to “evolve.”
And again, you have still to answer my questions. Perhaps a dingo ate your brain?
Wrong again, ButtLicker, the facts again are against you.
In Korea Christians already outnumber Buddhists. In a few years David Aikmen says China will become the largest Christian nation on earth. And a century ago less than 10% of Africa was Christian, today it’s nearly 50%; an increase of 10 million to more than 350 million people today. But I guess those poor blacks don’t “count” in the minds of bigoted Australians who can’t stomach electing a black man to high office.
Sorry Charlie, unfortunately you can’t apologize “for me,” any more than you seem able to craft a proper sentence. But if you actually are deluded enough to think you can, please stick around.
You’re going to be doing a lot more of it.
Just like how when you eat a piece of beef, the energy inside the meat is passed on to your body.
I would agree but energy can be transferred so when I die my energy will be transferred into the natural environment.
This has not been my battle, but I am a Christian, and i would right now like to apologize for the insults wozzle has been throwing at you. but there is one question I am curious about, though I’m not 100% sure i’m in full understanding of this law. I’ve read energy cannot be created or destroyed, now then, is this law as blunt as it sounds, that new energy can not be created. If so, then that is at least one aspect i would have to closely examine if I weree an athiest.
I have been looknig through these comments, and while i might not know what you and bryon might have said all throughout your conversation, I would still have to say that ridiculing someone every single post is something we as Christians should not be doing. I am not against you, but you should stop with the name calling.
